In May’s newsletter I talked about how easy it is to “go green” at home using light and shade controls. This month, I’d like to continue that discussion by talking about using AMX thermostats to control the climate of your home and fully automate and integrate all of the home’s systems to truly make your home green.
The last major subsystem in a home is HVAC control. By using the new AMX Color Thermostat we can eliminate the old, dated thermostats on your wall and update the look with this new one. Going one step further we can totally eliminate the thermostat and use remote sensors for the clean look we all like. The thermostat also communicates with AMX Controllers for convenient, centralized management of temperature information from your touch panel.

So now we have our lights, shades, and thermostats all under the control of our AMX processor so how do we use this control to make our everyday lives easier, safer and our homes greener? This is where home automation comes in. We’ve all heard the term but have we really experienced it? Up until now our automobiles have been more automated than our homes (the light goes on when we open the door!) Wouldn’t it be great when you walked in the front door of your home, you disarm your security system which tells your AMX control system you’re home, your lights come on and your shades and thermostats adjust your preprogrammed levels (see programming view below)? Give the maid or handyman their own code and have all the lights come on 100% for cleaning and maintenance. Then when they leave, the settings return to away mode, leaving the house just as you left it. These are just a few examples of how home automation can simplify your life.
