Happy New Year! I hope that you have had a great holiday season and that so far, 2015 is treating you well. It was a hectic month for The Big Picture as we were busy making upgrades for those electronic gifts that many of you found under your Christmas trees. With that said, things are quickly getting back to normal and I’m looking forward to 2015.

The first major event in the tech world is the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) going on right now in Las Vegas and the first big news to come out of the show is about TVs. If you thought buying a TV was complicated before, let me tell you that TV manufacturers are not going to make it any easier going forward. They are adding apps, streaming services and personalized TV guides to their 2015 models. They say they’re trying to make TV simpler for consumers, but ironically they are probably adding confusion.

Let me offer some advice for any of you that are considering making TV changes because you’re looking for more sources. Don’t fall for the hype. Between your cable service, Apple TV, and your BluRay player, you already own all of the sources that you need for TV viewing and the control systems in your homes are already programmed to make using these sources seamless. If you are considering a new TV, your money will be better spent on better image quality over more (and often repetitive) sources. Feel free to give me a call so that we can discuss the right choice for you and your family.

As always, feel free to call with questions, new ideas, or comments.
