In today’s world, technology is constantly changing and this month there have been some great changes for us music and movie lovers. These changes will help us enjoy our technology with just a touch more simplicity. The first change I’d like to tell you about is from Apple. Beginning on April 1st, purchasing music from the iTunes Store will get easier. Music will be “DRM free” and will be available at a higher quality (ie. higher bit rate). This is great news for all of us that are listening to our music on non-Apple equipment. When you download your music from the iTunes Store you’ll now be able to see your download on your ReQuest and access it from any touchpanel in your home and the doubled bit rate gets closer to CD quality sound. These are two great changes from Apple.

The second change I am excited to tell you about is from VUDU. In the January newsletter I told you about VUDU, the video server product that gives you instant access to over 14,000 movies and TV titles from all Hollywood studios and leading independent distributors. Up until now, movies for purchase were only available in standard definition. Now, with VUDU’s new collection available for both rental and purchase in HD (1080P) format, you can own Blu-Ray quality video by using your VUDU on-demand box.

Finally, I want to tell you about the free app available from Apple called ReQuest App. This app will allow you to control your entire ReQuest from your iPhone or iPod Touch. Using either of those devices, you’ll be able to choose your music from anywhere in your home. To find the app, simply go the App Store in iTunes and search ReQuest. If you need help setting up the app to work with your ReQuest system, feel free to give me a call at 312-563-9717.
